With too little knowledge in BHold I can't say BHold was the right choice but what I've seen of Omada tells me they probably did since Omada requires a way to advanced object structure not to mention they still try to sell their old ILM based product that competes directly with the parts in FIM Microsoft requires CAL's for. Anyway, knowing a couple persons in the FIM team in Redmond my guess is they did the right choice but it's still to early to say if it's going to be a success.
